9.13.18 "Our Water, Our Vote"
Regardless of political party, all Michiganders
can agree that access to safe, clean, affordable drinking water and maintaining our pristine lakes, rivers and streams is critical to our way of life, public health and economy. Unfortunately, Michiganders -- surrounded by the world’s largest source of surface freshwater -- can’t even trust that the water running from their faucets is safe to drink.
Join Progressive Women's Alliance and Michigan League of Conservation Voters to raise awareness on important water issues and threats currently facing Michiganders and our state's water.
Thursday, September 13th
Registration: 5:00 pm - 5:30pm
Program and Q&A: 5:30pm - 7:00 pm
This "fireside chat" will be facilitated by Michelle Jokisch Polo, Inclusion Reporter from WGVU Public Media, who will share stories she has heard directly from impacted women throughout our community. Michelle will lead us through exploring water and environmental threats like PFAs contamination, Line 5, and water infrastructure from the perspective of a parent advocate, a Standing Rock activist, and others directly impacted by drinking water contamination.
This is our moment. Michigan is front-and-center in the 2018 elections. We have an opportunity to reclaim our status as a national leader in environmental conservation and water protections. We have a chance to reset Lansing with bold, new leadership in the Governor’s office and the entire State Legislature. It starts with us electing real water champions in November.
Cash bar and light refreshments will be available.
Please consider an additional contribution of $15 to PWA so that we can provide more financial support to incredible candidates. Funds our candidates receive now are critical to their success this fall.
Thank you for your support!
