11.19.17 Meet the Candidate: Powerful Women for Challenging Times

Get to know PWA endorsed candidate Gretchen Whitmer, one of the featured speakers at our November 19 fundraiser "Powerful Women for Challenging Times".

Gretchen Whitmer is running for Michigan Governor. A proven fighter and problem solver, she has a long track record of being a champion of women, workers, and children. During her tenure in the State Senate, Whitmer served as the first woman minority leader in Michigan's history and was part of the negotiation to expand Medicare through the Healthy Michigan program. That effort expanded healthcare to 630,000 working Michiganders.

After leaving the Senate, Whitmer stepped up again to serve as Ingham County Prosecutor after the official elected to that position resigned. During her time as Prosecutor, she restored faith in the office, implemented strong ethics reforms, and established a new Domestic Violence Unit.

As Governor, Whitmer won't back down from the tough fights and will challenge both parties to do what's right for Michigan.
