The mission of the Progressive Women's Alliance is to influence public policy through the election of candidates and the advocacy of a progressive agenda.

PWA Lakeshore

The lakeshore chapter of Progressive Women’s Alliance works to identify, connect, and grow a community of like-minded individuals along the West Michigan lakeshore – from Holland to Grand Haven and Muskegon. We advocate for effective public policy on issues affecting women, encourage women’s involvement in the political process, and provide financial and volunteer support to endorsed candidates and causes that align with our values.

In the last year, we’ve sponsored the West Michigan Civil Conversation Project, provided public-school access to Miss Representation (a film about the role of the media in women’s self-image), and supported the launch of Embrace (a grass roots effort to welcome diversity on the lakeshore). We’ve organized forums on issues of community interest, hosted regional and national speakers, and so much more.

If you live, work, or summer along the lakeshore, please join us. We host monthly happy hours on the 4th Friday of most months, an annual potluck, a book discussion group, and more.

You can email us for more information at or find us on Facebook at Progressive Women’s Alliance-Lakeshore.
