Nearly 100 progressive women and men convened at Camp Blodgett to bid on local art, hear local music, enjoy a sustainable feast, and raise money for progressive causes and candidates at the 2009 Strong Currents lakeshore fundraiser on October 15, 2009.
 
Works of art by more than 40 regional artists, as well as donations by area fitness experts, holistic health practitioners, massage therapists and more garnered nearly $3000 in funds for progressive candidates and issues.  Before the event, a well-attended sponsors' reception at the Sebastain cottage raised another $2700 for the cause.
 
In keeping with the lakeshore's 2009 focus on sustainability, all tableware was compostable, glassware was reusable, and at the evening we celebrated the success of sending less than 1/3 of a barrel of trash to the landfill (last year's event resulted in 5 barrels of refuse!) Way to go lakeshore!

Strong Currents 2010, previously scheduled for Thursday, September 9, 2010 at Camp Blodgett, has been cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances.
